    Toffee Sauce

    This Toffee Sauce is smooth, rich and indulgent. It's easy to make and the perfect homemade sauce to take your favourite dessert from yum to show-stopper!

    Spoon some of this creamy golden-coloured toffee sauce over things like pancakes, cheesecake, brownies or waffles - or use it to turn plain old vanilla ice cream into an ice cream sundae!

    • light brown sugar
    • dark brown sugar
    • vanilla extract

    How to make Toffee sauce

    1. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan, stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
    2. Simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce has thickened slightly.

    Top tips for the best result

    • The sauce will thicken as it cools.
    • Too thick? Pour in a little more cream and give it a whisk.

    Storage

    The sauce can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

    My easy toffee sauce recipe is smooth, rich and indulgent. This golden sauce is perfect for pouring over anything from ice cream to cakes or a slice of pie.

    Ingredients

    • 300 ml thickened cream heavy cream
    • 50 g salted butter cubed
    • 90 g dark brown sugar
    • 110 g light brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Instructions

    • Combine all the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
      300 ml thickened cream
      50 g salted butter
      90 g dark brown sugar
      110 g light brown sugar
      1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Once the butter has melted, stir the mixture to incorporate then continue to simmer over medium-low heat for 2 minutes or until you achieve your desired consistency (see my notes).
    • Serve warm.

    Notes

    • The sauce will thicken as it cools.
    • If it's a bit thicker than you would like just add a little more cream.
