    Red Pepper Aioli is a creamy, zesty sauce made using roasted red peppers (bell peppers/capsicums).

    This roasted red pepper aioli can be made quickly and easily at home by just adding a few extra ingredients to your favourite store-bought mayo.

    • mayonnaise - I used store-bought whole egg mayo
    • roasted red peppers - (also known as red bell peppers or capsicums, depending on which country you live in) you can use store-bought or I can show you how to easily oven-roast your own at home here
    • fresh garlic cloves - with the centre cores removed
    • fresh lemon juice
    • fresh basil leaves
    • fine cooking salt

    How to make red pepper aioli

    1. Add everything to the bowl of a small food processor.
    2. Process until evenly combined and refrigerate until needed.

    Top tips for the best result

    • Because the garlic in this recipe isn't going to be cooked, I recommend removing the core from the centre of each garlic clove before crushing the clove. This will give you a more pleasant, mellow garlic taste. For more information on this see this post.

    Store this creamy aioli sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup mayonnaise I used store-bought
    • ½ cup roasted red peppers drained well if packed in oil or water
    • 2 garlic cloves cores removed and crushed (see my notes)
    • 1½ tablespoon lemon juice
    • ⅓ cup fresh basil leaves firmly packed
    • ¼ teaspoon fine cooking salt

    Instructions

    • Add everything to the bowl of a small food processor.
      ½ cup mayonnaise
      ½ cup roasted red peppers
      2 garlic cloves
      1½ tablespoon lemon juice
      ⅓ cup fresh basil leaves
      ¼ teaspoon fine cooking salt
    • Process until well combined, scraping down the sides as you go.
    • Refrigerate the mixture until needed.

    • Because the garlic in this recipe is going to be raw, I recommend removing the core from the centre of each garlic clove before crushing the clove. This will make the garlic taste less harsh. For more information on this see this post.
