These adorable Mini Christmas Puddings are the perfect no-bake sweet treat for your Christmas menu this year!

This is a fun recipe to get the kids involved with too, with only a handful of ingredients plus the chance to get your (clean) hands in and smash up some fruit cake!
I have decorated the top of the puddings with red and green mini M&Ms to look like holly. If you can't find these I have also provided some ideas for what to use instead.
I like to make these cute little Christmas cake balls with rum because I use rum when I make a full-sized Christmas pudding. Feel free to use another alcohol you enjoy the taste of, or you can easily make these mini Christmas puddings alcohol-free (and kid-friendly) and use orange juice instead.

Substitutions
- fruit cake - substitute with Christmas cake or Christmas pudding
- rum - sub with brandy, sherry, spiced rum or Cointreau
- alcohol free - replace rum with orange juice
- dark chocolate - swap for milk chocolate
- red and green mini M&Ms - use small pieces of red and green glace cherries or other red and green soft lollies
How to make mini Christmas puddings
- Crumble the fruit cake.
- Mix in rum, then melted chocolate.

- Roll into balls.
- Drizzle over white chocolate and add M&Ms for decoration.

My top tips for the best result
- Be sure to mix the rum into the fruit cake thoroughly, the cake crumbs act like a sponge and soak it up really well where it's initially poured over.
- Add the M&Ms on top while the white chocolate is still wet or they won't stick.
- These puddings are best stored in the fridge, especially for an Australian Christmas which is warm!
Storage
Store these mini Christmas puddings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Suitable for freezing (prior to decorating).

Instructions
- Add fruit cake to a large bowl, and crumble into crumbs with your hands.700 g fruit cake
- Add rum and mix well to combine.¼ cup dark rum
- Melt dark chocolate in the microwave on 50% power in 30-second bursts, mixing between each burst using a metal spoon.225 g dark chocolate melts
- Pour the chocolate into the cake mixture, then mix well to combine.
- Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls, then set aside.
- Use a sharp knife to slice the green mini M&Ms in half.
- Then melt white chocolate in the microwave on 50% power in 30-second bursts, mixing between each burst using a metal spoon.110 g white chocolate melts
- Using a teaspoon, drizzle a small amount of white chocolate over three balls, then top each with a red mini M&M, and two halves of a green M&M to look like holly.red and green mini M&Ms
- Repeat with remaining balls.
- Place in the fridge to set.
Notes
- The cake crumbs will soak up the rum like a sponge when it is first poured in. Make sure to mix it in very well to distribute it through the crumbs.
- To make sure that the white chocolate is still wet enough for the M&Ms to stick, I work with 3 balls at a time.
- These puddings are best stored in the fridge, especially if you are making them for a (very) warm Aussie Christmas!
