This is my secret to getting Crispy Prosciutto, a fast and easy hack for getting super crispy prosciutto in a flash, without even switching on the oven!

Today I am letting you in on my super quick and easy hack to make crispy prosciutto in no time flat, and without even needing to switch the oven on. This little trick of mine will give you prosciutto so crispy you could even call them prosciutto chips!slices of crisp prosciutto on a white bowl

Prosciutto is high on my list of favourite foods, I always have some at home...I don't need much of an excuse to use it.

    How to make crispy prosciutto

    You need 3 things

    • thinly sliced prosciutto
    • paper towels
    • microwave

    Yup, that's it!

    1. Place a slice of prosciutto in between two sheets of paper towel.
    2. Microwave for 30 seconds on full power, then remove from the microwave immediately.images showing process of cooking recipe
    3. Remove paper towel straight away.
    4. The prosciutto will continue to crisp on standing.photos showing process of making recipe

My top tips for this recipe

    • You can even use frozen slices of prosciutto for this method of cooking, I do it all the time (see my next point).
    • Prosciutto can be expensive, so I buy it when it's at a special sale price then freeze it flat with pieces of baking paper in between and wrapped in plastic wrap. This means I always have a stash in the freezer.
    • This cooking method can bring out the saltiness (in a good way!) in the prosciutto, so I would bear that in mind when you decide what dish you are going to use it in and how much salt you include.

Great ways to use these crunchy crispy slices

    • break into shards and add to your next grazing platter (I usually have uncooked prosciutto on my grazing boards, but I also like to add some of the crispy stuff too - I bet it will be the first thing to go!).
    • crumble over a pasta dish
    • crumble over your next potato or pasta salad
    • just eat like low-carb keto meat chips, sooooo gooood!!!!!

    What is prosciutto

Prosciutto is Italian ham that has been dry-cured, then is usually thinly sliced.

    Ingredients

    • 4 thin slices of prosciutto

    Instructions

    • Lay a slice of prosciutto flat between two pieces of paper towel.
    • Place flat in the microwave, and microwave on full power for 30 seconds, then remove immediately and remove paper towel (the paper towel will be damp).
    • The prosciutto will be quite crisp when removed from the microwave, but will continue to crisp on standing.

    Notes

    • The prosciutto will pop and crackle a bit in the microwave, this is normal. Plus when you open the microwave door, it will be full of steam - again, this is normal.
    • You can even use frozen slices of prosciutto for this method of cooking, I do it all the time (see my next point).
