    Top tips

    • You want to have really well mashed bananas for this recipe, they should end up almost like banana puree (a few lumps is ok). If you want to get out extra equipment you could puree them in a food processor if you like.
    • I generally break the bananas down with a potato masher first, then finish mashing them with a fork. Whatever works for you is fine.
    • Can't find self raising flour? It's easy to make your own, for every cup of plain flour (150g) add 2 teaspoons of baking powder and sift well to combine.
    • Once you have added the self raising flour to the wet ingredients, don't over mix it. You want to mix until it is just combined, this will help your banana bread come out soft and fluffy not tough.

    Banana bread add ins

    • cinnamon
    • vanilla essence
    • chocolate chips
    • substitute some brown sugar for the white sugar for a deeper flavour

    Serving suggestions

    • This 4 ingredient banana bread is lovely warm from the oven with creamy whipped butter - plain butter is great too or maybe even cinnamon or maple!
    • Great toasted as well.
    • Makes an awesome dessert served with some ice cream and a drizzle of blueberry coulis.

Loved the simplicity of this recipe. Thank you.
I only had two bananas so I diced a green apple into small pieces and added that in. Also my favourite cinnamon. 😋
I had some muesli with nuts I'm not very fond of so I melted some butter and mixed in a bit of honey and sprinkled that on top.
      Came out perfect.
