Top tips for the best result

    • I recommend making your own pesto for this pesto mayonnaise recipe. Not only does it taste much better than store-bought, but it's also a lot easier to make than you might think. Just toss the ingredients into a food processor, give it a whizz up and you're done. Fresh homemade pesto!

    Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

    Mix well before using.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most common type of pesto?

    Basil (green) pesto.

How do you make pesto less pungent?

Before adding the fresh garlic, remove the core or "germ" in the centre of the garlic clove.

Basil Cashew Pesto - an alternative to traditional basil pesto that still uses traditional fresh basil leaves, olive oil and garlic, but replaces the classic pine nuts with cashews.

Arugula (Rocket) Pesto - another pesto variation, this time using rocket instead of the usual basil. I like to use it to make a delicious pesto pasta salad.
